The gift-giving season is upon us — and here at Amistad Motors, we’d like to make your shopping a little simpler. Here are a few of our favorite car enthusiast gift ideas for that hard-to-please person on your list.

It’s the Little Things

Give Drop Wipes bird poop remover cloths to anyone who needs to park near trees, because fast-food napkins and hand sanitizer just don’t cut it. Or provide your loved one with relief from the sun by purchasing the Enovoe Car Window Shade.

Unique Gifts for Car Fans

Winter can be tough on car batteries, so the NOCO Boost Plus GB40 portable battery jumper makes a great gift. The AIR PIX Pocket-Size Flying Camera is a mini drone that lets users take the ultimate selfie with their car. You could also give the gift of a car-related novel — like In the Seat of a Stranger’s Car by Beau Flemister, which tells the story of a Hawaiian car park attendant and the strange things he sees.

Toys for Kids of All Ages

The Hot Wheels ID Smart Track Kit has Bluetooth® capability and lets your kids control the action and participate in an online game. For older builders, LEGO® offers a Land Rover Defender Technic kit, complete with all-wheel drive, a winch and a four-speed gear box.

Choose one of these products and give a present that’s sure to satisfy the car lover in your life.

4 Tips for Planning a Tailgate Party

Game Day Tailgate | Fort Stockton, TX

Are you planning a tailgate party for the big game? Follow these tips to make your gathering a fun and memorable event for everyone involved.

Stay Organized and Clean

A clean tailgate party is a happy tailgate party. If you’re bringing raw meat to grill, transport it in a separate cooler to protect the rest of your food and drinks from any leaks. Also, use gloves when you grill to avoid cross-contamination.

Show Up and Break Down Early

Maximize your tailgating time by showing up early to get a good spot and breaking down early so you’ll have plenty of time to watch the game. Make sure you pack the grill so it’s easy to get out and fire up.

Serve Finger Foods

Timing is important at tailgate parties. That’s why you want to make sure the food is quick and convenient to eat. Finger foods make it possible to stand, eat, talk, and drink at the same time.

Look Out for Guests

Are your guests pregaming responsibly? If it seems like some attendees have had a few too many drinks, don’t be afraid to pull the host card and cut them off. You want everyone else to enjoy the party and the game, too.

With these tips, you’ll be prepared to host a great gathering. And if you’re in need of a tailgate for your tailgate party, stop in at Amistad Motors and drive home one of the many outstanding Chevrolet and Buick vehicles our lot.

2020 Silverado Diesel Knocks Out the Competition

2020 Silverado 1500 Diesel - Fort Stockton, TX

With the new Duramax® turbo-diesel engine, you can enjoy the best of both worlds in your 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 — mighty towing power and impressive fuel economy.

This engine, a 3.0-liter inline-six, cranks out 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. When properly equipped, Silverado diesel models can tow up to 9,300 pounds and handle a payload of up to 1,870 pounds.

The Duramax® turbo-diesel is just as efficient as it is strong. In recent testing by the EPA, two-wheel-drive Silverado diesel models achieved 23 mpg in the city and an outstanding 33 mpg on the highway.* Four-wheel-drive models got 23 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.*

Compare those numbers to the Silverado’s diesel competitor, the Powerstroke-equipped Ford F-150. The 2WD diesel F-150 gets just 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg, and the 4WD model gets only 20 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.

Not only does the Silverado 1500’s diesel engine top the competition, it also delivers better fuel efficiency than many family cars, including the Toyota Camry and Subaru Legacy.

The diesel-equipped 2020 Silverado 1500 will be arriving soon at Amistad Motors, where you can experience its capabilities for yourself with a test drive.

*EPA estimates. Actual mileage will vary.
